HTX Steel INC has manufactured engineered wood strand mulch since 2004, supplying land managers, agencies and contractors who need bare ground protected long enough for vegetation to take hold.
Our approach to sustainable restoration
Restoration succeeds when the soil stays on the hillside. Everything we make is aimed at that single outcome: a stable surface, protected moisture and conditions where native plants can re-establish without repeated intervention.
Wood is the right raw material for that job. It is a by-product of forest and mill operations, it decomposes into something the soil can use, and — cut to the right dimensions — it forms a physically interlocked cover instead of a loose scatter of pieces.
We keep the specification tight because the geometry is the product. Strand length, thickness and consistency are what separate a treatment that survives a winter from one that blows off in the first storm.

If another treatment suits your site better, we will say so. Cover rates are recommended for the conditions, not for the invoice.
